Welcome to the first ElderDerm Conference in Washington DC, brought to you by GW Department of Dermatology. The number of older adults in the United States older than 65 is steadily rising; by 2040, older adults will represent 21.6% of the population. The incidence of dermatological diagnoses is increasing in parallel. Older adults are an important subset of patients to consider in dermatology care given the complexities in management and unique social considerations. There is a need for a platform to address the treatment challenges including the safe use of therapies, social considerations, and barriers to care seen in our older adult dermatology patients. With these considerations in mind, ElderDerm 2024, a conference uniquely dedicated to highlighting the complexities in medical treatment and social considerations in older adult patients, was born. In addition to addressing these important topics, the conference will foster collaborations between clinical researchers and practitioners will fuel the development of future research studies and clinical trials in the field of geriatric dermatology.
Prepare for a day filled with interactive educational sessions, panel discussions, product showcases and networking opportunities.
